planning a trip to the shelter?
In the autumn we are open everyday 8:30-12:30 and you don't have to book anything, just show up, we will be so happy to see you!!

Finding us by car:

On the main road between Skiathos Town and Koukounaries you will find the junction at Troulos. You really can’t miss the turn as it’s the largest junction on the main road. Simply turn inland and follow the road. As long as you keep climbing upwards you will find the signs for the Shelter.
Please make sure you park in the designated spot indicated by the Parking Area sign.

Finding us by Taxi:

That’s simple, all the Taxi drivers know where the Shelter is. But don’t forget to ask the driver to collect you later!

Finding us on foot:

If you’re fit and healthy and fancy a challenge why not walk up to the Shelter? Just get the bus to Troulos and follow the road inland. Be warned though, it can take an hour depending on your walking speed and there are no facilities at the shelter so bring plenty of water and attend to the “call of nature” before you leave.

Because every dog deserves to be loved!
You’ll find our dog shelter in the pine-covered hills on the island of Skiathos, with stunning views of the azure Aegean and nearby mainland.
Enjoying cool breezes in the hot summer and
tranquility at night, the land kindly donated by the Evangelistria Monastery provides a safe haven for dogs looking for their forever homes.
Visitors to the island can walk, cuddle and help care for our dogs as often as they like or are able to (during opening hours). And if you fall in love with a dog while you’re here, our team of volunteers will do everything possible to assist you in rehoming your new best friend!
Most of our dogs have been given to us by owners who are no longer able to look after them. Some are delivered to our 24/7 holding pen by good Samaritans, with anonymity assured. Some are born here.
When dogs arrive, the first thing we do is check for a microchip or try to contact the owner by word-of-mouth, in an attempt to discover the dog’s backstory, which can be a great help with rehoming.
As always, anonymity is assured.
